Six-time Olympic champion Usain Bolt said in London on Thursday that he feels "excited" and also "nervous" to run again after seven years at Beijing's iconic Bird's Nest stadium at the World Championships next month.

"I am definitely excited to go back to Beijing and a little bit nervous," he said at a press conference ahead of the IAAF Diamond League meeting at the Olympic Stadium in east London.

The 28-year-old said, "I have set a standard there. I know I get to deliver the expectation. Everthing should be good."

The Bird's Nest stadium is a special place for the Jamaican, who shot to fame there by winning three gold medals during the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. He went on to win eight gold medals at three World Championships and retain the three titles at the London Olympics in 2012.

The world's fastest man will compete for the first time in almost six weeks over 100m on Friday night. The Jamaican has been hampered by a pelvic injury this summer and the race will give the world an indication of whether he can restore the glory in his first return to Beijing after seven years.

He said, "I'm confident, I've been doing good in training. I'm not worried about time."

Bolt withdrew from the IAAF Diamond League events in Lausanne in June and Paris earlier in July with the leg injury. His best 100m result this season is just 10.12 seconds, ranking distant 62nd in the world.

His 200m season best is only 20.13 seconds, much slower than American Justin Gatlin's leading time of 19.57.
