Chinese Vice Premier Wang Yang said Saturday that strong measures must be taken in poverty alleviation to make sure no area or people are left behind.
Wang, who is also head of the Leading Group for Poverty Alleviation and Development under the State Council, made the remark at a plenary session of the leading group.
To realize high precision in poverty relief efforts, the country should continue to complete the archives for all people in poverty and pursue dynamic management of those people, the vice premier said.
The central government will reinforce evaluation of the poverty relief work of local governments at different levels, which are urged to take precise measures on each impoverished household based on their respective reality, Wang said.
He also said that China should raise investment in poverty relief from diversified channels and improve the infrastructure and public services in poor areas to help poor people find jobs, start businesses and get out of poverty.
Data from the National Bureau of Statistics showed that there were 70.17 million poverty-stricken people in China's countryside by the end of 2014, down 12.32 million from a year ago.
China is planning to help them out of poverty by 2020, as it aims to establish an all-round well-off society by the time, a goal which includes requirements in GDP, income per capita, college enrollment rates and the number of doctors per 1,000 people.
