Starting from August, a Chinese culture season will kick off in the UK. Lasting until the end of the year, the season will bring Chinese contemporary cultural to the UK through music, dramas, visual arts, dance, design and fashion.
The Edinburgh Art Festival in August will be a crucial platform for performing arts as top artists and art troupes will participate in the festival, including pianist Lang Lang, Wang Yujia, the National Theatre of China, the China National Peking Opera Company, the Tao Dance Theatre, the Children's Art Theatre Troupe of Tian Jin and the Zhejiang Chang-xing Lotus Dragon Art Group.
Several supporting events will be held to better promote this cultural exchange between the two countries, including a launching ceremony for the Shenzhen-Edinburgh Creative Industries Incubation Center, special events during Shanghai Fashion Week and the establishment of a China Pavilion at 100% Design London.
During Chinese Premier Li Keqiang's visit to the UK in June of 2014, the two sides agreed to make 2015 a year of China-UK cultural exchange. From March to July, the UK season has been held in China, while the second half of the year has been set aside for the Chinese season of culture in the UK.
