A logo marking the 70th anniversary of the end of the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression (1937-45) and the end of World War II has been revealed by the Chinese government.[Special coverage]
The logo features a red number "70" in its center. Five doves fly over and behind the number and the Great Wall spreads out in the shape of the letter "V."
The "V" symbolizes victory and the unity of the Chinese nation, according to the State Council Information Office.
The five doves demonstrate the memory of history and the aspirations for peace, representing people from the five continents "who are united and moving together toward a beautiful future after going through blood and fire".
The doves also symbolize the Chinese people flying into a future of great rejuvenation under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, according to the office.
It said the logo cannot be made into trademarks or used for any commercial purposes, and products featuring it are not allowed on the market.
