Young contestants from China have won four gold medals at the 47th International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO) which ended in Baku, capital of Azerbaijan on Tuesday.
The Chinese contestants were Ouyang Yifu, Liu Liyang and Peng Liyao.Ouyang won the prize of "the best of the best" and the title of "best theorist."
The annual event, which started on July 21, brought together 300 talented high school students from 75 countries as well as over 250 chemists, the jury, experts, professors, supervisors, and team leaders.
Organized by the Baku branch of Lomonosov Moscow State University, the event has engaged high school students in exams and laboratory work to test their knowledge in chemistry theory and practice.
The idea of the IChO was developed in Czechoslovakia in 1968. It aims to increase contacts and exchanges of information between nations.
