The deadline for the ongoing China Unlimited Creative Contest was extended from July 31 to August 31, 2015, in response to popular demand, notably from a large number of the participants, announced the Mission of China to the European Union (EU) on Thursday.

The China Unlimited Creative contest was launched in this April in the framework of celebrations for the 40th anniversary of China-EU ties.

Created by the Mission of China to the EU and organized by Atlas International Culture, the contest aims to encourage citizens from the 28 EU member states to express their views on China and China-EU relations through artistic means.

Participants can compete in four categories: photo, video, essay and fine art, with the chance of winning one of 15 trips to discover China.

Selected artworks are published on the Contest website (http://www.chinaunlimited.eu/) and submitted to the votes of a professional jury, composed of artists, culture specialists and press representatives.

The final selection would be made by an outstanding grand jury, presided by the Ambassador Yang Yanyi, Head of the China Mission to the EU, European Commissioner for Education and Culture Tibor Navracsics, and Belgian Deputy Prime Minister Didier Reynders.

The awards for the best artworks would be announced and distributed during an official ceremony in September 2015, said the Mission.
