Shen Peiping, former vice governor of southwest China's Yunnan Province, stood trial on Tuesday in Beijing for taking bribes.
Shen was accused of taking advantage of his posts to seek profit for others and accepting bribes worth 16.15 million yuan (2.64 million U.S. dollars) from 2000 to 2012, at the Beijing First Intermediate People's Court.
Shen confessed in court, at a trial attended by nearly 60 people, including lawmakers and members of the public.
The verdict will be announced at a later date.
