Macao's new tourists highlight, Studio City, a cinematic-themed diversified resort featuring a Ferris wheel in the shape of a figure 8, is scheduled to be open on Oct. 27, its developer Melco Crown Entertainment announced in a press conference Wednesday.
As one of the new resort's non-gaming attraction, the 130-meter high sky wheel is inspired by Hollywood disaster movies in thought of two asteroids crashing together at the center of the building to take the form of figure 8, a staff told reporters on a hard-hat tour to the construction site.
When the "golden reel" with 17 steampunk-themed cabins rolls, which is similar to the movement of a film's reel, riders would be able to enjoy a scenic view of Macao.
The integrated leisure complex is comprised of a 5,000-seat multi-purpose entertainment center, a TV production studio, " Batman Dark Flight"-themed motion ride, a magic acts house, a fun zone for children, together with retails, restaurants, hotels, and nightclubs, according to the press release.
The resort opening soon is set to be a new try in supporting Macao's change in building a diversified and world-class leisure and tourism destination.
