In Finland, there's an old saying: "If you dig deep enough through the earth, you'll end up in China." And China is guest of honour at this year's 48th Helsinki Festival.
The festival is the largest of its kind in the Nordic countries, and this year's event, running from August the 14th to the 30th, will feature one of the broadest showcases of Chinese culture - both modern and classical - that Europe has seen in recent years.
More than 400 Chinese artists are involved, including circus performers, dancers, designers, writers, film-makers, and both rock and classical musicians. In all, 30 countries are involved, and about a-quarter-of-a-million visitors are expected.
