Police from several Chinese provinces arrested 20 suspected members of a drug ring and seized more than 100 kg of drugs, the public security department of central China's Hunan Province said Wednesday.
Around 112 kg of "magu", a stimulant composed of methamphetamine and caffeine, more than 4.6 million yuan (around 740,000 U.S. dollars) in cash, two handguns and 108 bullets have been seized, said Liu Zili, an official with the department.
In November 2014, police found a drug gang trying to traffick drugs from southwest China's Yunnan Province to central Hubei Province through Hunan. Three suspects were caught on a highway by police, Liu said.
Other suspects were caught by police in different cities of these provinces between January to June, after a special investigation team knew their whereabouts and trading channels, he said.
Further investigation is under way.
On Tuesday, police in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region also detained two drug traffickers and 40 kg of ketamine in another case.
