Chinese veterans who fought in the Anti-Japanese War will receive 5,000 yuan (802.57 U.S. dollars) ahead of the 70th anniversary of victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression on Sept. 3.[Special coverage]
The allowance will be handed out to the veterans before September, according to a circular released Tuesday by the ministries of civil affairs and finance, at the request of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee.
China has scheduled a series of events to mark the anniversary, culminating in a military parade on Sept. 3 in Beijing.
