The 22nd Beijing International Book Fair (BIBF) will be held August 26-30 at the Shunyi district's new China International Exhibition Center, according to a press conference for the event held on Wednesday.
Standing apart from previous years, the 2015 BIBF will increase the total number of participating publishing houses, as well as the number of visiting famous writers from around China and overseas.
Heavyweight guests this year include Patricia Aldana, the president of the award jury for the Hans Christian Andersen Award, and Wally de Doncker, the president of the International Board on Books for Young People.
Additionally, another important book festival, the formerly independent Beijing International Book Festival, will be held as part of the BIBF.
A traditional highlight of the BIBF, the guest country of honor always attracts quite a bit of attention every year.
This year the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will stage a series of activities to introduce Chinese readers to Arab history, culture, film and art, including its famous Arabic calligraphy and Henna tattoos.
On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Chinese people's victory in the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression that ended in 1945, publications themed on the war will be a major focus of the fair.
Meanwhile, two other highlights of this year's BIBF are digital publishing and children's books, both leading sectors of the current publishing industry when it comes to the former's proliferation of use and the latter's rising sales.
A time-honored cultural brand for Beijing and even the entire country, the BIBF has been gearing up over the years to keep up with internationally famed book fairs such as the Frankfurt Book Fair and the Book Exposition of America.
