What does the future hold for Libras in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province? A jaywalking ticket, according to an official police study.

The newly-released study, compiled by the Shenzhen police department, divided 9,511 traffic regulation violators cited last week based on their sign in the Western zodiac.

Libras (September 23 to October 23) received the most citations for jaywalking and traffic light violations while driving, the study said.

The runners up were Virgos (August 23 to September 22) and Scorpios (October 24 to November 21), Shenzhen Metropolis Daily reported Thursday.

The most law-abiding constellations turned out to be Aries (March 31 to April 19) and Taurus (April 19 to May 20), said the study.

Traffic police said the report is based on data acquired from the violators' IDs.

The study soon went viral on social media and drew various snarky comments on Chinese news sites.

Many netizens called the study "superstitious" and "boring."

"Incredible, Libras are supposed to be known for their elegance and Aries are the impulsive ones," Net user "Tiantian" commented.

"Traffic police represent the government, how could they conduct such a nonsense study? What's next, studying their sense of fashion and Chinese horoscope?" A netizen from Hunan Province wrote.

Prominent famous Chinese Libras include Confucius, author and social activist Lu Xun and Hong Kong heartthrob Andy Lau.
