China's State General Administration of Sports is holding a meeting with Chinese Football Association. The conference is to discuss a timetable on reform of the sport in the China, and the first part of that begins the process to separate the CFA from China's sports administration.
The reform plan was released in March which included a series of measures to boost football development in the world's most populous nation. According to the plan, China will streamline the football management system and spin off the CFA as a separate entity from the GAS.
The CFA will become a financially transparent non-governmental non-profit organization overseeing the development of football. Its management will include football professionals and representatives from the GAS, regional football associations and private football leagues.
