Chinese police have ordered the removal of more than 190,000 illegal online items featuring violence, obscenity or gambling, the Ministry of Public Security announced Tuesday.
The removal is part of a six-month campaign which began in July to combat "online criminal activities," the ministry said in a statement.
The action also targets online sabotage attacks, website hacking, fraud and financial crime.
Police have apprehended more than 15,000 suspects of online crime and suspended a number of network service providers, advertising agencies and hackers.
