China will build a new scientific innovation park in Xixian New Area in Shaanxi province, in order to further stimulate innovation in China's western region.
Designed by the Ministry of Education and the Shaanxi provincial government and undertaken by Xi'an Jiaotong University and Xixian New Area, a State-level urban development zone established by State Council approval in 2012, the innovation park entitled China West Scientific Innovation New Park will provide long-term stable support to China's important industries with technology and talents, and establish a joint center by the university and enterprises to stimulate innovation.
Located in the area between Xi'an, the capital of Shaanxi province, and Xianyang, a neighboring city of Xi'an, the park's construction will firstly focus on the infrastructural projects including transportation, environment protection and living buildings, in order to provide convenient communication between the two cities and boost production and living conditions for innovation enterprises and personnel.
"The first phase of the park's construction includes 8 main projects with a total investment of 1.46 billion yuan ($228.5 million)," said Wang Jun, Party secretary of Xixian New Area's administration committee.
Zhao Zhengyong, Party secretary of Shaanxi provincial committee, said that the park is one of the most important projects in the province and he hoped the area and the university would make it a new engine for the economic and technological development in Shaanxi and West China.
Du Zhanyuan, vice education minister, said that the project should provide proper services to aid economic and social development, and should have the power to solve the key problems of economic and social development for the region and the country.
