Liu Qibao, head of the publicity department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, on Wednesday called on overseas Chinese media to tell China stories vividly and promote Chinese culture actively.
Liu said at a meeting here with representatives of overseas Chinese media that he hoped they could bridge China and other parts of the world by taking the initiative to tell China stories, spread China's voice and promote Chinese culture.
Overseas Chinese media could play a bigger role as cultural ambassadors to show the world a charming China, he noted.
Liu also expressed his hope that overseas Chinese media could publicize China's anti-Japanese war history extensively in the international community to rally peace-loving people in the world to safeguard the victory of the world anti-Fascist war and maintain world peace.
The representatives attended a symposium in Beijing on Wednesday to mark the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II as well as the 200th founding anniversary of overseas Chinese media.
