The Party committee of Jinan Military Area Command of the Chinese People's Liberation Army expressed their full support of the decision to cut troops, according to a report in the People's Daily on Monday.
President Xi Jinping announced China will cut the number of its troops by 300,000 ahead of the country's military parade to mark the 70th anniversary of the victory of anti-Japanese aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War on Thursday.
The cut is aimed to optimize the structure of Chinese forces and will be completed by the end of 2017.
The military command of Jinan said they will resolutely obey the orders from the Party Central Committee, the Central Military Commission and President Xi Jinping, and fully support the great decision to cut troops.
The military command said they will carry forward the grand spirit of anti-aggression with concrete actions, and make arduous efforts to realize the goal of building a strong army.
History has proved that correct leadership by the Party was the key to victory against Japanese aggression. The army today must fully adhere to the Party's command, better its combat effectiveness to safeguard national sovereignty and territorial integrity, and uphold world peace, said Du Hengyan, Party chief of the Jinan military command.
The Party leadership said they will unanimously follow the Party Central Committee's instruction, and the leaders will set an exemplary role in military reform and troop cuts.
Regardless the rank of officers involved and interests affected, the Jinan military command leadership will implement orders unambiguously, they said.
