Olympic and world champion Sun Yang snatched his second title at the Chinese National Swimming Championships, winning the men's 200m freestyle on Monday.
Sun, who finished second over 200m in the Kazan World Championships in one minute and 45.20 seconds, clocked 1:45.79 for the gold medal. The result could rank him fourth in Kazan. Sun's Zhejiang teammates Xu Jiayu and Shang Keyuan came second and third respectively.
"I felt extremely tired," said Sun. "But I want to push my limits when I am exhausted. If my physical condition was better, I could have swum better than this."
Newly-crowned 100m freestyle world champion Ning Zetao finished eighth in 24.78 seconds at the men's 50m butterfly, which was won by 16-year-old Li Zhuhao in 23.80.
"I need to save my energy for the World Military Games next month," said Ning, a Chinese Navy athlete.
World champion Fu Yuanhui showed her supremacy again in the women's 50m backstroke with a time of 27.58 seconds, beating Liu Xiang from Guangdong, bronze medalist in Kazan, into second place in 28.12.
Xu Jiayu, fourth in 100m backstroke and sixth in 200m in Kazan, dominated 200m in 1:58.88; Qiu Yuhan of Liaoning won the women's 50m butterfly in 26.58; Fang Yi of Beijing topped the women's 200m individual medley in 2:14.97; Liaoning claimed the women's 4X200m freestyle relay in 8:00.51.
