Beijing Meteorological Bureau released a draft law of regulations on the prevention and control of geological disasters in Beijing. According to the draft, the government will do further research regarding weather modification in Beijing. It also stipulates that the government will conduct operations, like reducing rain and preventing hail, in order to reduce losses caused by meteorological disasters, the Beijing News reported.
The draft indicates that when meteorological disasters happen, government officials are encouraged to take emergency measures, like controlling traffic, closing scenic spots, canceling big events and suspending classes. The meteorological bureau is seeking public opinion on the draft law from September 7 to 27.
