The Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) Thursday night said that FIFA Secretary General Jerome Valcke has been put on leave and released from his duties effective immediately until further notice.
"FIFA has been made aware of a series of allegations involving the Secretary General and has requested a formal investigation by the FIFA Ethics Committee," the association said in a brief statement.
Valcke, 54, has been facing allegations involving the transferring of 10 million U.S. dollars to the Caribbean Football Union run by Jack Warner, an alleged bribe paid by the South African Football Association in the bid for hosting 2010 World Cup.
