Tianjin University promises to teach the art and science behind landing your soulmate this spring semester, media reported Monday.
The new course, "Basic Theory and Experience of Love," aims to help students find meaningful relationships with a combination of textbook work and training in social etiquette and communication skills.
The two-credit course was designed by student-run organization "Matchmaking Meetup," which boasts to have helped students find their better halves since 2013.
"The course aims to provide a platform for students to communicate with each other," association head Cong Ying said.
"Our purpose is to help them find happiness."
Grades involve coursework and an original skit related to the material performed in front of the class. But of course, actually finding a partner carries extra weight.
"If they can put theory into practice and get a girlfriend or boyfriend, we may give them full credit," Cong said.
Some students regretted not signing up for the class.
"Attending a course that not only expands your social network but also helps us get a partner is a wonderful thing," one student said.
