Over 50% surveyed in social media platforms believe China-U.S. co-op important

More than 50 percent of Chinese and foreign respondents believed cooperation between China and the United States is "very important," according to a latest survey by Xinhua and Tencent News.[Special coverage]

Netizens clicking on the "very important" button reached 53 percent of all respondents in the study both in and out of China, as shown in the result of a survey in the wake of Chinese President Xi Jinping's state visit to the U.S. from Tuesday to Friday.

On potential benefits from the U.S.-China ties, 61 percent of Chinese respondents hoped to buy more cheaper commodities from the United States, while 58 percent of foreign netizens observe China as a "huge market," which means more jobs for the United States.

Meanwhile, 45 percent and 30 percent of Chinese chose maintenance of post-war order and coordination of trade process as the key areas for China-U.S. cooperation respectively, as 36 percent and 45 percent similar responses were collected from overseas platforms.

As differences and conflicts remain for both countries, 64 percent of Chinese respondents and 49 percent of their foreign counterparts believe China and the U.S. should do more to bridge their differences on security in the Asia-Pacific region.

On who will dominate the century, most respondents bypassed choices for China or the U.S.. Seventy percent of Chinese and 56 percent of foreign respondents gave their votes to "a century of cooperation and development."
