Precious artifacts from Norbu-linka, the summer palace of the Dalai Lama, were put on exhibition in Beijing's Summer Palace on Tuesday.
As the first cultural exchange between Beijing's Summer Palace and Tibetan cultural relic protection groups, the exhibition is aimed at bringing more diversified cultural experiences to visitors to Beijing's imperial garden.
In total, 73 items are on display during the exhibition, which will last until Nov. 25. The most precious is the bronze figure of Guanyin, the buddha of mercy, with a child, which dates back to the Song Dynasty (960-1279 A.D.) and a gilded bronze figure of Guanyin with thousands of hands and eyes.
Among the display are dharma-vessels and worship instruments used by older generations of dignitary Tibetan monks.
Norbu-linka Park as a part of the Potala Palace in Lhasa, capital of the Tibetan Autonomous Region, was built in the 18th century. As the world's highest palace garden, it was included on the UNESCO's World Heritage List in 2001. While Beijing's Summer Palace, the former imperial resort of Qing Dynasty is also a world heritage site.
