Chinese e-commerce tycoon Jack Ma Yun made 26 provisional revisions on his draft speech at a meeting in the United States which President Xi Jinping attended on Wednesday, Wujienews reported. [Special coverage]
A draft claiming to bear Ma's handwriting was spread widely online.
According to the draft, Ma added the phrase "and hold on till now" after he said: "I borrowed 20,000 yuan to start business".
He also added: "Chinese loves to save money", following the sentence "we always spend money from yesterday, the money we saved".
The speech was delivered by Ma, founder and executive chairman of Alibaba Group, at the U.S.-China Business Roundtable in Seattle during Xi's state visit to the U.S..
Xi also spoke at the meeting.
Thirty CEOs of top companies in China and the U.S. attended the roundtable, including Pony Ma Huateng, chairman and CEO of Tencent and Apple CEO Tim Cook.
The revisions included:
Deleted "distinguished" before addressing chairman Henry Paulson and fellows.
Added the phrase "and hold on till now" after "I borrowed 20,000 yuan to start business".
Added "my hometown" in front of "Hangzhou" and the sentence turned out to be "43 years ago, U.S. president Nixon visited my hometown Hangzhou".
Added "Chinese loves to save money", following the sentence "we always spend money from yesterday, the money we saved".
When speaking of his entrepreneurship experience, Ma added the sentence "Today's global economy is in need to call for entrepreneurship and innovative spirits of entrepreneurs".
Ma added "sincerely and honestly" in front of the sentence "negotiation is very necessary and important" when he talked about communications between China and U.S. entrepreneurs.
