Seventy percent of Chinese high net worth individuals are interested in knowing about high-end retirement communities, with professional healthcare ranking as most important factor, according to a report jointly released by Taikang Life and Hurun Report on Thursday.
The report is based on a study of 1,119 high net worth individuals from 35 regions across China, and 40 one-to-one interviews with this group in first-tier cities Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen.
As of May, the number of individuals on the Chinese mainland with personal wealth of 10 million yuan or more reached 1.21 million, registering a year-on-year growth of 11 percent, with an increase of 120,000 from the previous year. For individuals with 100 million yuan or more, the number rose to 78,000 with year-on-year growth rate of 16 percent, according to the report.
Males are more interested in high-end senior living communities than females, and the younger the respondent the higher their enthusiasm towards retirement communities.
Professional healthcare expertise at the retirement communities is the top concern and other factors are meals, regular physical examinations, leisure activities, a natural environment and fitness facilities.
