Five people died after a sedan caught fire Sunday on a highway near the border between Northwest China's Gansu Province and North China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.
The fire broke out at around 9 a.m. when the sedan, with its vehicle registration plate issued in Xinjiang, veered off the highway linking Jinchang City of Gansu and Alxa of Inner Mongolia, traffic police said.
The car was badly burnt. The police are investigating the cause of the fire which occurred on the week-long National Day holiday.
