According to the National Development and Reform Commission of the People's Republic of China, a government database open to the public will be built before 2018.
State Council of the PRC released a document on August 31, 2015, to promote data aggregation, management and openness in central and local governments in China. Data from transportation, medical care, employment, social security, geography, culture, education, science and technology, environment, finance, statistics and meteorology will be set to open first.
The document also stated that China aspires to use big data for public good and to push the economy going further through the data innovation.
