A young man in Rizhao city, Shandong province, who is obsessed with military vehicles, has finally realized his dream of building his own armored car, Global Times reported on Friday.
Shi Yanqiang, who owns a local car accessories shop, has spent about 30,000 yuan over the past seven months to modify a discarded light truck.
The new vehicle is about 5m long, 2.5m high and 2m wide. Although it looks authentic, its not allowed on public roads as it is made from scrap.
According to the report, Shi once served in the People's Liberation Army for five years.
