Tourists who visit Mount Qomolangma base camp may receive a 50-percent discount on tickets starting Nov. 1, the local tourist administration said.
According to the tourism administration of Dingri County, base camp tickets for Mount Qomolangma, known as Mount Everest in the West, will be halved to 90 yuan (about 14 U.S. dollars) as part of winter ticket sales.
The discount will be offered from Nov. 1 to March 31 of next year. Hotels will also maintain low season prices through the winter.
Mount Qomolangma base camp, which sits at an altitude of 5,200 meters, received 60,000 visitors in 2014.
Dingri tourist administration said views of the mountain are clearer in winter, with less rain and cloudy weather. Visitors are reminded to bring warm clothes and identity cards.
In addition to the winter scenery of Mount Qomolangma, tourists may also visit Rongbuk, the world's highest monastery at an altitude of 5,100 meters and only 8.5 kilometers from base camp.
