Although China's Football Association (FA) and former head coach Jose Antonio Camacho had parted ways over two years ago, a question remains -- will the Chinese football authorities pay Camacho for severance?

The two sides split on bad terms as the CFA fired the Spaniard in July 2013 for poor results and the latter requested severance claiming the CFA "failed to fulfill the contract".

On Monday, Camacho told newspaper El Confidencial that his appeal was backed by the sport's world governing body FIFA.

The CFA told Xinhua on Tuesday that they need to verify the information and seek legal advice before they respond.

Camacho, with more than one year left on his contract, stepped down following a humiliating 5-1 home loss to a second-string Thailand side on June 15, 2013.

Camacho and his legal team had a series of negotiations with the CFA over settlement dispute. As the two sides failed to reach an agreement, he referred the case to FIFA.
