An economic fugitive who fled to and stayed in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for three years was returned to China on Wednesday as part of the country's on-going campaign to capture fugitives overseas.
The man surnamed Wang, suspected of illegally pooling public capital, was returned on Wednesday after fleeing to the UAE nearly three years ago, police said.
According to the police, Wang collected more than 7 million yuan ($1.1 million) from citizens in Pizhou, East China's Jiangsu Province between 2011 and 2013 in the name of selling agricultural products to Dubai.
Wang fled to the UAE from Shanghai in March 2013. The Pizhou People's Procuratorate issued an arrest warrant for him in October 2014.
