Twenty-four Chinese shops and buildings have been blazoned by a gas fire in the Papua New Guinean port city of Lae, two of which were completely destructed.
A source on the scene told Xinhua on Thursday that locals had started looting the burning buildings until authorities arrived, however these reports have not been independently verified.
The Chinese embassy in Port Moresby has not received any reports of casualties from the fire, which was reportedly caused by the misuse of gas.
