Launched in London's Chinatown, the one-month display of China's greatest views has been listed as one of the key pieces of Chinese President Xi Jinping's visit to the UK between Oct 19 and 23.
The launching ceremony was attended by Madame Hu Pinghua, wife of the Chinese Ambassador to the UK, Liu Xiaoming, and Lord Bates, a member of the House of Lords, minister of state at the Home Office, member of the Privy Council and the international honored photographer.
Mostly sponsored by Geely, China's international auto manufacturing company, the contest was launched in August in Beijing to show the beauty of China to the world through the lens of a mobile phone and was a part of the China-UK Year of Cultural Exchange.
It was organized by China Daily, supported by the cultural branch of the Chinese embassy in Britain and curated by Chinalink London.
Contest jury members included Wang Wenlan, deputy chairman of the China Photography Association, Michael Pritchard, director general of the British Royal Photographic Society, Colin Sheaf, head of Asian art at Bonhams Auctions, and Yang Xueliang, Geeley's public relations director.
Yang said that Geely hopes the contest will help more people appreciate the beautiful scenery, the people and culture in China.
