"Goodbye Mr. Loser," a domestic romance comedy about a man's journey to find true love, ruled China's box office in the week ending Oct. 18, pulling in 298 million yuan (46.9 million U.S. dollars).
The film has grossed about 1.2 billion yuan since opening on September 30, the China Film News reported Thursday.
"Ant-Man," an American sci-fi fantasy, came in at a respectable second place, with 273 million yuan during the week after opening on October. 16.
The third place went to animated fantasy "The Little Prince." The French production earned 69.7 million yuan in the week after it was released on Oct. 16.
"Lost in Hong Kong," a domestic comedy, landed in the fourth spot in the week, with 43 million yuan. Its total box office stood at 1.6 billion yuan on Oct. 18 after its release on Sept. 25.
Rounding out the top five was "Chronicles of the Ghostly Tribe," an action-thriller directed by Lu Chuan, which earned 37.8 million yuan in the week. It has grossed about 677.7 million yuan since opening on Sept. 30.
