HK-bound ferry hits object in waters, 27 injured

A ferry sailing from Macao to Hong Kong hit an object in the waters near Lantau Island on Sunday, leaving 27 people slightly injured, Hong Kong police said.

The high-speed ferry, which was carrying 163 passengers and 11 crew members, lost propulsion after the accident.

It is operated by Shun Tak China Travel Ship Management Limited,

Water police and firefighters have arrived at the accident scene to help with the rescue effort.

The injured will be sent to hospitals for further examination and treatment, police said.
