This year marks the 65th anniversary of the establishment of China-Vietnam diplomatic relations. The countries, both under communist party leadership, have a long history of friendship and cooperation despite disputes. As Chinese President Xi Jinping will pay a state visit to Vietnam from Nov 5-6, the first by China's top leader in a decade, let's take a look at earlier high-level exchanges.

Vietnamese President Truong Tan Sang attended the V-Day Parade in Beijing marking the 70th anniversary of victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.
President Xi called for both countries to consolidate traditional friendship, expand cooperation and cultural exchanges and maintain high-level contacts while meeting with Sang.
