Miao Jianzhong, former president of China Mobile Communications Shanxi Co is being investigated on accusations that he accepted bribes, the Supreme People's Procuratorate reported today.
Miao was subject to "coercive measures", a term that generally refers to detention. The case is still under investigation.
In a separate development, Wang Jianping, vice-chairman of the political advisory body at central China's Hunan provincial city of Zhuzhou, also was placed under investigation for bribery.
He is accused of abusing his power to gain advantages for others, who then paid him cash bribes or through other benefits, the top prosecuting office said.
