All 10 miners trapped after a gas explosion at a coal mine on Oct. 9 in east China's Jiangxi Province have been confirmed dead on Wednesday.
According to the provincial workplace safety watchdog, the explosion in Yongji Coal Mine happened at around 10 p.m. in Shangrao County and caused a section of the shaft to collapse.
Investigations found the mine's safety license had expired in January but illegal mining had not ceased despite warnings issued by the local government.
The owner of the privately-owned mine is now in police custody.
