A job fair held in Xi'an, Shaanxi province, on Saturday, attracted thousands of college graduates.
Around 351 companies held on-site recruitment at the fair convened in a stadium of the Xi'an University of Science and Technology.
Job positions related to civil engineering, telecommunication and computer science were more popular, while posts in fields such as humanity and management were less attractive, said organizers.
China's urban registered unemployment rate stood at 4.05 percent at the end of September, up from 4.04 percent in June, latest official data showed.
The country created 10.66 million new jobs for urban residents in the first nine months of this year, Li Zhong, spokesperson for the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, told media.
The government aims to create at least 10 million new jobs and hold the unemployment rate below 4.5 percent this year.
