A total of 7,084 cases involving 24 kinds of infectious diseases and 16 deaths were reported in October, according to a Beijing Center for Disease Prevention and Control (CDC) monthly report released on November 4.
Four diarrhea outbreaks were reported of which three were of norovirus infections at kindergartens.
Data provided by the Beijing CDC reveals that the annual period for norovirus infection falls between October and November. Symptoms include vomiting, diarrhea, fever, and aches and pains.
The center advises people to pay special attention to personal hygiene. Schools and kindergartens are required to educate people of the virus and sterilize the environment accordingly.
