Beijing set up a copyright protection commission for its animation, comic and game (ACG) industry on Tuesday to further the industry's protection of intellectual property.
The ACG Commission of Capital Copyright Industry Alliance, an organization led by the Beijing government, consists of more than 80 members that include state-owned and local enterprises, universities and research institutions.
The organization will take a variety of measures to counter problems in the ACG industry such as a dearth of original work, an incomplete industrial chain and insufficient protection for copyright, according to Wang Ying, the commission director.
Wang Yefei, deputy head of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Copyright, hopes the commission will have a good impact on the ACG industry in Beijing and around the country.
Beijing's ACG industry has seen great development in recent years, with its gross output value standing at around 37.2 billion yuan (5.8 billion U.S. dollars) in 2014, a year-on-year increase of 69 percent and accounting for about one third of the country's total output value last year.
