The top disciplinary arm of the Communist Party of China (CPC) on Thursday named and shamed officials who had broken regulations relating to life and work styles.
The CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) released the names of officials involved in 131 cases of accepting bribes, embezzlement of public funds, dereliction of duty, abuse of power for personal gain, and charging unauthorized fees, among other violations.
Officials included those from the local government level and a high school headmaster, the CCDI said in a statement, adding that punishments ranged from warnings to dismissals.
An eight-point rule was introduced at the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee meeting at the end of 2012 to address bureaucracy, formalism and extravagance.
The CCDI has been publicizing these cases since April 2014.
Violations by officials at the local level seriously harm the public's immediate interests, said the disciplinary watchdog, adding harsh punishment will be meted out to offenders to crack down on corruption.
