China on Wednesday voiced firm support for Russia's counterterrorism measures following a passenger airplane tragedy in Egypt last month.
Terrorism is the common enemy of all countries, and China opposes terrorism in all forms, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hong Lei told a routine press briefing.
Hong said China firmly supports the action by Russia to safeguard its national security and stability.
Alexander Bortnikov, the head of the Russia Federal Security Service, said on Tuesday that the Russian plane with 224 people on board, which crashed in Sinai, Egypt, on Oct. 31, had been attacked by terrorists. Russian President Vladimir Putin vowed to hunt down and punish those responsible for the air crash and called for assistance from other countries.
"China is ready to work with Russia and the international community on security cooperation to maintain the peace of the world," Hong said.
