China on Thursday issued its first state-level standards for the calculation of greenhouse gas emissions from major industries.

The country's Standardization Administration (SAC) set the standards to regulate greenhouse gas emissions from ten industries including power generation, steel, chemical engineering and cement.

The standards will take effect beginning June 1, 2016, said the SAC.

The general rule stipulates the basic principle, calculation, process, quality guarantee and report content of industrial greenhouse gas emissions.

Yin Minghan, the SAC's deputy director, said the calculation range will cover the gas emissions during entire production process including emissions created by related services such as power supply and staff dining.

Carbon dioxide will be the major gas regulated for power generation, steel, magnesium smelting, plate glass, cement, ceramics and civil aviation, while power grid, chemical engineering and aluminum smelting shall also calculate the emissions of sulfur hexafluoride and nitrous oxide, according to the rule.
