China's Supreme People's Court has recently announced that divorce lawsuits accounted for half of the total of 38,619 family cases in Beijing last year, the Beijing Morning Post reported Sunday.
The court said that there were nearly 4 million lawsuits over marriage and family disputes from January 2013 to October 2015 in China.
The report said that children and house property are the major focus of these cases, and it was difficult to mediate the involved parties.
Zhu Chuntao, a president of the Beijing Municipal Higher People's Court, said that domestic violence is the major cause of divorce cases.
