Chinese President Xi Jinping said Monday that an early, comprehensive and fair solution to the Palestinian issue serves the interests of all peoples in the Middle East region and does good to world peace and stability at large.
Xi made the remarks in a congratulatory message hailing the UN meeting on Monday to mark the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People.
Stressing that the Palestinian issue should be solved through peaceful means and negotiations, Xi said China sincerely hopes that all sides concerned can show their foresight, bear in mind the fundamental and long-term interests of the peoples in the region and remove hurdles to achieve an early resumption of talks and secure favorable results.
In the message, Xi also stressed that China's backing for the Palestinian people's justice course is earnest and selfless while China is a staunch supporter and sincere mediator for the Palestinian-Israeli peace.
China is willing to work with the international community to strive for an early realization of a comprehensive, just and sustainable peace in the Middle East, Xi added.
The UN General Assembly held a meeting on Monday to mark the 38th International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian people. The actual remembrance date falls on Nov. 29.
In 1977, the UN General Assembly called for the annual observance of Nov. 29 as the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People. On that day in 1947, the assembly adopted the resolution on the partition of Palestine.
