November saw total box office revenue of 2.63 billion yuan ($411 million) for the Chinese mainland, a 14 percent increase from the same month last year, but a 37 percent decrease from the previous month.
A total of 34 new films were released in November, including 27 from China. With a total of 11 films, romance became the dominant genre that month, while the action and horror genre saw five films each. Animation, sci fi and war films also had a chance to grace the silver screen.
James Bond spy film Spectre was the box office champion of the month, grossing 535 million yuan. In second place was the Hollywood blockbuster The Martian, with 334 million yuan, while Our Times, the teen romance film from Taiwan came in at No.3 with 271 million yuan.
Annual box office for 2015 is expected to fall between 42 to 44 billion yuan.
