A former admissions official at a prestigious Chinese university confessed to taking a huge amount of bribes during trial on Thursday.
The hearing of Cai Rongsheng, former head of the admission office at Beijing-based Renmin University, was held at the intermediate people's court in Nanjing, capital city of east China's Jiangsu Province.
Procurators accused Cai of accepting bribes worth 23.3 million yuan (3.64 million U.S. dollars) to help students get enrolled or change majors between 2005 and 2013.
Cai was put under investigation in late 2013 and arrested in May, 2014.
