The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) has turned into "a powerful nuclear weapons state ready to detonate self-reliant A-bomb and H-bomb to reliably defend its sovereignty and the dignity of the nation," the official KCNA news agency reported Thursday, quoting the country's top leader Kim Jong Un.
Kim made the remarks while inspecting a remodeled revolutionary site.
Kim said the DPRK has become a nuclear weapons country thanks to "the historic gun report" made by late leader Kim Il Sung at the Phyongchon revolutionary site, thus making the site "a native place of Songun (military-first) arms," the report said.
The DPRK has said its pursuit of nuclear weapons is an outcome of the U.S. hostile policy toward it.
